How should I attach flat back rhinestones to a formal dress?
I purchased a discontinued bride’s maid dress for my sister to wear to prom. We both really enjoy one of a kind clothing items, so we are doing the bead work and rhinestone detail ourselves.
We recently finished gluing on over 100 flat back rhinestones, and when she tried on the dress they starting coming off immediately. Even though we used top of the line fabric glue, it just wasn’t enough.
So, for experienced crafters out there, which would be better? Iron on rhinestones or something like the GeMagic? Thanks!
My favorite for this is something called jewel glue or gem glue. It is specifically designed for gluing rhinestones to fabric. I’ve got some on a shirt that I wear regularly; the shirt is 3 or 4 years old and has literally been washed a couple hundred times. The glue still holds just fine. Delta Brand Jewel Glue is the best one I have found, but other jewel or gem glues work well, too. Check WalMart or Michaels or Joann’s.
